What you'll be doing

• Design, develop and maintain backend and frontend payments systems and infrastructure across Coinbase.
• Serve as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for key projects, driving them from design to production with high accountability.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn our vision into a tangible roadmap.
• Mentor and train other team members and contribute to building a strong, inclusive, high‑performing engineering culture.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex full‑stack issues, ensuring performance, stability, reliability, and security.

What we look for in you

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong software engineering skills in building reliable backend services and fast, accessible UIs.
• Proficiency in backend technologies (e.g., Golang) and API design.
• Strong collaboration skills with product, design and engineering teams.
• Knowledge of high‑quality code and engineering processes.
• Passion for building an open financial system that brings the world together.

Nice to haves

• Experience with Golang, gRPC, Docker, Kafka, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks.
• Experience in the financial domain.
• Crypto‑forward experience (e.g., interacting with Ethereum, ENS, dApps, blockchain services).

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full‑time offers also include bonus eligibility, equity, and benefits (including medical, dental, and vision). Pay Range: $191,100 CAD - $191,100 CAD.
