Senior Software Engineer* Java Backend & Databases

Responsibilities

• You will take responsibility for our self-developed production database and ensure its stability, performance, and further development.
• You will maintain and expand our Java backend architecture, including the associated REST interfaces.
• In the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will continuously develop our production tools, thus contributing significantly to an efficient and modern production process.
• In close cooperation with production, you will receive direct feedback from the users on-site – this enables rapid iterations and practical, effective solutions.
• Together with colleagues from production and R&D, you will develop solution proposals based on requirement profiles and UX designs.
• You will actively participate in the conception and implementation of an internationally networked software landscape, thereby shaping the digital future of our production systems.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in backend development with Java, ideally 7–10 years
• Sound knowledge in the conception and maintenance of relational databases (e.g., MariaDB, PostgreSQL)
• Practical experience working with RESTful APIs, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Ideally, experience in a production environment or with MES systems
• Know-how in frontend development and IT security is an advantage
• Good German and English skills, both written and spoken (minimum B2 level)
• Enthusiasm for accompanying your own software projects from design through architecture and implementation to maintenance
• Enjoyment of interdisciplinary teamwork and the motivation to facilitate the work of colleagues through clever, practical software solutions

• RESTEasy / Java – for modern backend architectures
• WildFly and Keycloak
• Versioning and build processes (e.g., Git, Jenkins)
• Agile methods (Scrum, Kanban)
• UX/UI basics – for practical, user-friendly tools
