About

As a Senior Software Engineer in our Payments team, you will help shape the financial backbone of Delivery Hero by building scalable wallet, payment, and anti-fraud solutions used globally. You will work on a complex, multi-region payments engine that supports 70+ countries, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to improve payment success, reduce fraud, and handle peak load efficiently. This is a hands-on, impact-driven role with end-to-end ownership and opportunities to influence architecture and reliability. Responsibilities

• Design, build and deliver highly scalable backend systems used across 70+ countries
• Lead backend engineering efforts with a focus on distributed systems and frameworks (Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, JUnit)
• Own services end-to-end with infrastructure automation and CI/CD integration
• Define and implement testing strategies (unit, integration, contract, end-to-end)
• Promote high-quality software design using SOLID, design patterns, and DDD
• Build secure, resilient systems following secure coding practices
• Diagnose and resolve production issues in multi-region, distributed microservices environments

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering software systems in complex, global domains
• Deep backend engineering expertise with distributed systems focus
• Hands-on mastery of Java, Kotlin, Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, JUnit
• Strong ownership mindset with automation, CI/CD, and reliability focus
• Excellent problem-solving, curiosity, and creative approach to challenges
• High bar for quality, performance, and craftsmanship
