Responsibilities

• You develop and are responsible for the architecture of scalable platforms for research workflows (training, simulation) as well as production systems (real-time inference, data acquisition)
• You develop tooling for the seamless transfer of models from Python-based research environments into performant C++/Rust runtimes
• You optimize critical system paths such as inference latency, training throughput, and resource utilization
• You build and establish engineering standards, including CI/CD pipelines, build systems (Bazel), and containerization (Docker)
• You develop fault-tolerant systems for long-running experiments as well as safety-critical robotics applications

Profile

• You hold a Master's degree in Computer Science or a comparable technical field
• You have several years of experience in software development and are responsible for large features from design to deployment
• You have very good knowledge of Python and strong experience in C++ (modern) or Rust
• You have experience in designing scalable system architectures (microservices, APIs, distributed systems, e.g., gRPC/REST)
• You work according to high engineering standards with a focus on testing, code reviews, and modular, maintainable codebases

Desirable Experience

• You have experience with machine learning systems such as PyTorch, MLOps, Data Pipelines, or Model Deployment
• You have already worked with Docker, Bazel, and Kubernetes or job schedulers like Slurm
• You are familiar with robotics middleware like ROS2 or DDS or comparable messaging systems
• You have experience with cloud infrastructures (AWS, GCP, or Azure) including Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible)
• You have experience with simulations in the context of reinforcement learning (e.g., Isaac Sim or MuJoCo)
