Senior Software Engineer

Galaxus Deutschland GmbH

flexible Full-time Senior Today

About the role

About Us

As a leading Swiss e-commerce platform, with a team of over 3,500 employees in Switzerland, Germany, and Serbia, we are on our way into new markets. Our driving force is the desire to constantly rethink what exists. That's why we are looking for people who are passionate about making things truly better. With us, you will find the freedom and trust to act independently, grow with us, and be yourself.

You will start as a Senior Software Engineer as part of Team Dr. No and immerse yourself in the domains of People & Culture and Financial Reporting (focus on payroll). Step by step, you will take on more functional responsibility. After the onboarding period, there is the possibility to take over the team leadership for a small new team and transfer the two product groups there. The task is very exciting, but also challenging, as you will work in cross-functional product groups where Data Engineering aspects play an important role alongside classic software development.

Does this challenge appeal to you? Then become part of our team and actively shape the digital future of Galaxus!

Your Responsibilities

  • Implement and design requirements as a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on clean code, sustainable architecture, and high test coverage, and actively contribute to architecture and design decisions.
  • Improve the quality, maintainability, and extensibility of the codebase, establish best practices within the team, and take responsibility for the operation of the software through DevOps practices.
  • Foster open, transparent, and clear communication within the team, take responsibility in technical discussions, and give and receive constructive feedback – both within and outside of Scrum ceremonies.
  • Take responsibility for the entire process from conception through implementation to operation of the solutions and actively shape code reviews, architecture decisions, and support processes.
  • Actively contribute to the establishment of a new team, shape processes and working methods, and in the medium term, take over technical and personnel leadership.

Your Skills

  • You have a solid technical or data-oriented education (ETH/UNI/FH) and several years of professional experience with .NET technologies.
  • You possess very solid knowledge in C# and the .NET ecosystem, ideally with a focus on ASP.NET, and have experience in architecture and design issues (e.g., Domain-Driven Design, Clean Architecture).
  • You continuously develop yourself, independently acquire new technologies and domains, and proactively take responsibility for topics without waiting for clear assignments.
  • You drive projects forward through close collaboration, live agile principles (e.g., iterative development, feedback culture), and use practices like Pair Programming specifically to increase quality and distribute knowledge within the team.
  • You can explain technical decisions understandably, enjoy coaching other engineers, and contribute to establishing standards and best practices within the team.
  • You have a very good technical understanding, can quickly grasp complex, interconnected systems and derive robust, scalable solutions from them - including weighing trade-offs.
  • Ideally, you have German language skills; however, they are not a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • Bonus: You have experience with BigQuery, Dataform, MSSQL, Tableau, SQL Server Reporting Services, OLAP cubes, or comparable tools in the area of data management, preparation, and provision.

Why start with us?

  • Values instead of fluff: Cooperative, innovative, piratical, self-responsible, ambitious – we demand and live these five values.
  • Bravely think for yourself: We encourage everyone to think for themselves and actively. And we love it when you think boldly, newly, and differently.
  • Uncomplicated: We avoid the unnecessary and focus on what's important. From mastering challenges to celebrating our successes.
  • Flexibility instead of bending: In addition to home office options, we offer you up to 8 weeks of Workation. Furthermore, every position is also possible in an 80% workload.
  • Fast growth: With us, you grow and develop continuously. And receive 2,000 EDU points per year for your further development, so you don't stand still.
  • Modern: With us, you can work with the latest technologies every day, see our Tech Radar.
  • More than "just" work: Participate in our diverse employee events such as Hackathons, hiking, skiing, boating on the Limmat, LAN parties, or Friday night drinks and get involved in our Techblog if you are interested.
  • Further Benefits: Benefit from 25 days of vacation, exclusive employee prices in the shop, mobile phone, internet, and TV subscriptions at a corporate rate, and other advantages.

Diversity is our Culture

To build the best team, we are open to people from all backgrounds. This means: Everyone has the same opportunities with us. Origin, religion, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and age play no role. Because inclusion means for us that everyone is welcome and every contribution is valuable.
