Senior Software Engineer – Test Automation | Berlin | Hybrid

We are working with a nationally significant public-sector digital health organisation responsible for core infrastructure that underpins Germany's healthcare system. The team you would be joining operates a nationally critical electronic reporting and information platform, working at the intersection of software quality engineering, DevOps, and public health data infrastructure.

This is a senior, architecture-level test automation role — not a QA function that sits at the edge of delivery, but one that is embedded in the engineering process from the ground up. If you have built test automation frameworks from scratch, shaped CI/CD quality gates, and worked across frontend, backend, and pipeline environments, this is a role where that experience will be used in full.

The Role You will drive quality assurance and test automation across frontend and backend systems, working in close collaboration with Dev and DevOps teams. This includes conceiving and building automated test suites, integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines with Supply Chain Security, implementing end-to-end, API, load and stability tests, and establishing reporting and metrics frameworks that give the team real visibility over quality. You will also contribute to tooling evaluation and actively shape how test automation evolves across the organisation.

What You Need Five or more years in software development with substantial experience in test automation and QA. Hands-on with Serenity or a comparable automated test framework, at least one E2E framework (Cypress, Playwright or Selenium), Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, BDD with Cucumber, load testing with JMeter, and container-based environments using Docker. Backend knowledge in Java or Spring Boot is required for effective test implementation. Supply Chain Security experience within CI/CD is a hard requirement. Agile delivery experience (Scrum, Kanban or SAFe) and a degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional background complete the profile.
