Our client in the Digital Communications sector is looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager: USSD on a contract duration of 5 months.

Role Overview The Senior Software Engineering Manager: USSD is responsible for leading the strategy, design, development, and optimization of the organization’s USSD platforms and services. This role ensures the delivery of highly reliable, secure, and scalable USSD applications that support high-volume transactional services such as mobile money, payments, and digital financial services. The role combines deep telecom and backend engineering expertise with leadership, governance, and delivery responsibilities to ensure seamless customer experiences across USSD channels while aligning with enterprise engineering and digital platform strategies. Duties & Responsibilities

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Telecommunications Engineering, or related discipline (mandatory).

• Postgraduate qualification (MBA, MSc in IT, Telecommunications, or Software Engineering) – advantageous.

Professional Certifications (preferred)

• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Telecom or network certifications (TM Forum, Telecom Architecture frameworks).

• Agile / SAFe certifications (Scrum Master, SAFe Practitioner).

• DevOps certifications (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD platforms).

Relevant Experience

• 10–12 years’ experience in software or telecom platform engineering, with at least 5+ years in leadership roles.

• Proven experience delivering large-scale USSD or telecom digital channel platforms.

• Strong experience integrating USSD platforms with mobile money systems, payment platforms, banking systems, and telecom networks.

• Hands-on expertise in USSD gateway integration, session management, telecom protocols, and transaction processing platforms.

• Experience implementing API-driven architectures, microservices, and cloud-native backend services supporting telecom channels.

• Experience managing vendors, telecom partners, and delivery pipelines.
