About The Job

The CSIR has a vacancy for Senior Solution Architect in the e-Government Impact Area of the Next Generation Enterprises and Institutions Cluster. The incumbent will be responsible to create comprehensive architectures for software solutions/products and information systems, with a focus on Digital Government solutions that support and improve service delivery. The position is based in Pretoria and will report to the Research Group Leader.

Key Responsibilities

• Work across disciplines with researchers, experts, and other architects to conceptualise and design high-technology software solutions for clients; • Contribute technically on large and complex technology products, solutions, and systems using cutting-edge technology and innovative designs; • Work with agile teams of software developers and engineers delivering working software solutions; • Provide strategic direction throughout the development process; • Work across various domains (business, data, application, and technology) ; • Develop as-is and to-be architecture models, with roadmaps to create overall solution architecture; • Develop and document solution architectures and high-level system designs for multiple solutions and products; • Ensure end-to-end delivery of the solution to clients; • Align with Enterprise Architects to manage project risk and compliance; • Reduce complexity and cost by rationalising and consolidating systems and the Information Technology environment, and promoting re-use.

Qualifications, Skills And Experience

• An Honours degree in computer science, electronic/computer engineering, information technology or related field with at least seven years' experience in professional software development and architecture, particularly on large, complex technology products/solutions/systems. • The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) certification is required. • Knowledge of and experience in the following are required: • Business analysis; • Information Technology infrastructure; • Software architecture design; • Solution architecture; • DevOps. • Experience with the following would be advantageous: • Health informatics and eHealth systems; • Enterprise Architecture; • Systems/technical architecture; • Software development; • Digital government; • Devops, automation, continuous integration, continuous delivery; • Interoperability and system integration; • Research and publication of scientific articles; and • Data Science, Databases.
