About the role
A Day in the Life
We’re excited to welcome a Senior Solutions Architect – Global Rental Systems with profound expertise in crafting cloud-based, distributed, transaction-heavy architectures that facilitate global, multi-brand, multi-country, and franchise rental operations. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate intimately with business partners, product managers, engineering teams, operations leaders, and enterprise architects to revolutionize how Hertz develops and enhances counter, agent-assisted, and rental execution systems. What You Will Do
- Design, modernize, and refactor global counter and rental systems leveraging modular, cloud-native, API-driven architectures.
- Own the solution architecture across all domains, including application, data, integration, networking, security, and resiliency.
- Define and maintain solution blueprints, reference architectures, and standards for counter and rental platforms.
- Establish a clear end-state architecture for your areas of responsibility and drive stakeholder alignment and buy-in.
- Ensure architectures are deliverable incrementally, on time, and within budget, preserving the long-term target state.
- Lead architectural design and review for initiatives covering:
- Counter and agent workflows
- Offline/degraded-mode operations
- Multi-brand and franchise configurations
- Country-specific regulatory requirements
- Engage hands-on with engineering teams throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including design sessions, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with Enterprise Architecture for alignment with broader platform and integration strategies.
- Define API, integration, and event models connecting counter systems with reservations, fleet, payments, identity, pricing, and customer platforms.
- Drive modernization through incremental transformation patterns such as strangler, abstraction, and coexistence.
- Ensure solutions comply with security, performance, compliance, and availability standards.
- Participate in enhancing existing platforms and developing new capabilities.
- Advise business and technology stakeholders on architectural trade-offs and recommendations.
- Interpret and refine business requirements via workshops, design sessions, prototyping, and modeling.
- Document system dependencies, integration points, and data flows across the rental ecosystem.
- Create and maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, including solution designs, technical specifications, and release artifacts.
- Work with Operations leaders, Program Directors, and Vendors to address complex cross-functional challenges.

- Strong expertise in cloud-native application architectures (microservices, event-driven systems, serverless).
- Extensive experience designing and implementing API-based integrations using REST and SOAP, with JSON and XML formats.
- Background in transactional, high-availability systems (preferably in retail, travel, hospitality, or mobility).
- Familiarity with counter, POS, or agent-assisted systems is highly desirable.
- Experience designing for offline-first or degraded-mode scenarios.
- In-depth understanding of system integrations using APIs, messaging, batch, and streaming patterns.
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Hands-on familiarity with modern web and data technologies (SQL, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, JSON).
