Senior Solutions Engineer

Your role and responsibilities

As a Senior Solutions Engineer, you will play a crucial role in tailoring our offerings to meet customer needs. You will assist Solution Consultants in presales activities, which include responding to RFPs, conducting demos, and leading workshops. Your responsibility will involve building customized solutions that effectively showcase business value. You will analyze cloud and financial data to uncover valuable insights, create compelling demo environments, and communicate complex concepts in a way that resonates with both technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, you will collaborate with product and engineering teams to relay real-world feedback and enhance our solutions and demos.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Experience in FinOps and Technology Business Management (TBM), focusing on cost analysis, optimization, and financial governance.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience in a client-facing or presales environment, including support for demos, workshops, or customer engagements.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, able to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficient in data analysis and manipulation, especially with large datasets to derive insightful conclusions.
• A problem-solving mindset capable of breaking down complex issues and identifying root causes quickly.
• A collaborative team player who can work effectively across sales, engineering, and product departments.
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in fields such as Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Data Science, or related areas.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Familiarity with FinOps and cloud optimization tools such as IBM Cloudability, Kubecost, and IBM Turbonomic.
• Experience with Apptio TBM Studio, Apptio IT Planning, and Apptio Target Process.
• Understanding of IT financial management concepts, including budgeting, cost allocation, capital vs. operating expenses, and portfolio management.
• Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to utilize formulas and handle large datasets.
• Basic programming or scripting knowledge (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, Python, APIs).
• Experience in building or supporting demo environments and creating reusable presales assets.
