Join our team as a Senior Solutions Engineer, where you'll play a critical role in transforming enterprise mission needs into secure and effective technology solutions. You will lead engineering activities that encompass architecture design, proof-of-concept execution, and pilot validation, all while aligning with the priorities of OIT. Your expertise will be invaluable in driving data-driven decisions through quantitative analyses and clear recommendations for SEC stakeholders. Additionally, you'll contribute to ongoing improvements in enterprise infrastructure modernization by documenting outcomes, risks, and implementation considerations.
Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Solution Engineering: Engage in daily solution engineering tasks to identify technologies that fulfill SEC enterprise requirements.
- Translate functional, operational, and business needs into technical requirements and design criteria.
- Design architectural and engineering approaches that align with SEC’s infrastructure, security, and operational goals.
- Work collaboratively with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure solutions are feasible and scalable.
- Proof of Concept, Pilots, and Demonstrations: Plan and execute proof-of-concept projects to verify candidate technologies.
- Conduct pilots and demonstrations to assess solution fit for SEC mission and operational requirements.
- Establish success metrics, test scenarios, and evaluation criteria for each proof-of-concept activity.
- Summarize findings, limitations, and readiness for implementation to aid leadership decision-making.
- Analysis of Alternatives and Recommendations: Assess trade-offs between competing solutions using quantitative evaluation methods.
- Develop analysis artifacts that benchmark cost, risk, performance, security, and operational impact.
- Draft recommendation documents clearly stating methods, alternatives assessed, and rationale for selected options.
- Identify follow-on engineering tasks and any additional analysis required pre-implementation.
- Documentation and Stakeholder Engagement: Create clear technical documentation covering architecture options, engineering outcomes, and recommendations.
- Present findings to SEC stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Ensure traceability from requirements through evaluation to next-step actions.
- Foster continuous improvement using lessons learned to update documentation.
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship is required; dual citizenship is not permitted for this role.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering; extensive relevant experience may substitute for degree.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust.
- 8+ years of experience in business solutions engineering within enterprise IT environments.
- Proven experience in architectural and engineering design, proof-of-concept execution, and technical documentation.
- Skills in mapping functional requirements to technical specifications and generating formal recommendation documents.
- Experience in enterprise solution architecture, proof-of-concept planning, and quantitative evaluation of alternatives.
- Strong technical writing and research documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Support experience in federal IT programs and infrastructure modernization projects.
- Familiarity with zero-trust principles and compliance standards (e.g., FISMA/FedRAMP) in technology evaluations.
- Capability to create data-driven dashboards and performance reports for technology decision support.
- Experience with cloud and hybrid technologies such as Azure and Microsoft 365.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or ITIL 4 Foundation.
