About the role

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Specialist: Big Data & Analytics provides leadership, vision, and direction for Data Warehouse, Data Mart systems, and Big Data science to ensure alignment with TFR’s business objectives and requirements.

MAIN DUTIES

The candidate will be responsible for the following key outputs:

Strategy & Planning

  • Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for BI development; conduct research on emerging technologies, best practices, and standards in support of procurement and development.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Evaluate and select database components including ETL software and relational database management systems; set technical requirements for BI tools and lead design efforts.

Operational Management

  • Direct implementation of Big Data software tools using Agile and DevOps methodologies; ensure optimal performance through tuning and system assessments.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor team members on methodology and design; act as an evangelist for Data Science benefits across the organization; oversee activities of junior specialists.

DevOps Culture

  • Facilitate flow and feedback principles, limit work in progress, swarm and resolve problems, and institutionalize a culture of continual learning and experimentation.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in IT or Computer Science.
  • Certifications: Advantageous: BI/Analytics certification, Big Data Analytics, DMBoK, or ITIL foundation/service management.
  • Experience: 8+ years' working experience in at least one IT discipline (Data Warehouse/BI/Application Dev) with at least 4 years at Management level.
  • Competencies: Strong customer focus, expert business planning, analytical problem solving, and the ability to adapt to rapid technology changes.
