We’re seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to serve as a technical leader in the development of advanced electromechanical sensors and fluid management solutions used in some of the world’s most demanding aerospace environments. In this role, you’ll guide next‑generation designs from concept through certification while mentoring engineers and advancing the organization’s engineering excellence.

You’ll be part of a global, multi‑site engineering organization known for delivering highly reliable, high‑performance sensing solutions where precision, durability, and innovation are critical.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will lead the design, development, testing, and certification of aerospace‑grade sensing technologies, including:

  • Pressure sensors and MEMS‑based sensing solutions
  • High‑temperature thermocouples and RTDs
  • Speed sensors and cabling assemblies
  • Fuel, lube oil, hydraulic, and wastewater level and temperature sensors
  • Fuel gauging systems, flowmeters, and flow switches

You’ll combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills to deliver robust, certified products that meet stringent aerospace requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end sensor design activities, from concept through production and certification
  • Mentor and coach early‑career engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to develop and deploy new technologies
  • Create detailed 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks, including material selection and manufacturing methods
  • Author and review technical documentation such as design reports, FMEAs, test procedures, and qualification reports
  • Perform structural, thermal, fatigue, and dimensional analyses using hand calculations and FEA
  • Support proposal and bid activities through technical specification review and feasibility assessments
  • Serve as a technical authority in design reviews, ensuring rigor, quality, and compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement of the Design Engineering Body of Knowledge (BOK)

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • 15+ years of experience designing electromechanical sensing devices in a regulated industry (aerospace strongly preferred)
  • Proven experience with MEMS pressure sensor design, testing, and compensation
  • Experience designing for high‑temperature, high‑vibration, and harsh environments
  • Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T
  • Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma tools and methodologies
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards and components (including awareness of DO‑178 software considerations)
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 2020 or newer; experience with PLM/PDM systems (e.g., ARAS Innovator)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, high‑accountability environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
