Responsibilities

Your Role
Taking on the role of a Senior Staff Engineer Ion Trap Development, you'll join a passionate, international team dedicated to making quantum computing a reality. Working closely with top‑tier customers and academic partners, you'll lead the industrialization of trapped‑ion quantum processors. Your new responsibilities include driving the development of cutting‑edge ion trap chips and advancing their integration into multichip quantum processing units (QPUs).

• Drive technology development for trapped‑ion quantum processors, with focus scaling towards very large chips
• Co‑develop the next generations of QPUs with our commercial partners
• Enable the research community through projects with academic partners
• Supervise master and PhD students

Requirements

Your Profile
Qualifications and skills to help you succeed:

• A PhD in Physics, Quantum Engineering, Computational Physics or similar
• 5+ years of experience in Semiconductor Manufacturing, Quantum Optics, and/or (trapped‑ion) Quantum Computing
• A self‑driven and enthusiastic mindset with the dedication to turning the promise of Quantum Computing into practical reality
• Fluent English skills. German skills or the willingness to learn is a plus

Compensation

The employment is in accordance with the collective salary and wage agreement for employees of the electrical and electronics industry, employment group H (link). The monthly salary is paid 14 times per year. We offer a higher compensation depending on your expertise and skills.
