About the role
Introduction
A well-established structural engineering consultancy is seeking to appoint a Mid to Senior Structural Engineer to join its team based in Somerset West. The firm delivers a diverse portfolio of structural engineering projects and offers a collaborative, professional environment where experienced engineers are encouraged to take ownership of projects while contributing to team development.
This role involves design, detailing, and inspections across projects from concept to completion, with the added responsibility of providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and commercially aware, with strong problem-solving and communication skills. While working closely with peers, the role also allows for a high degree of autonomy and leadership responsibility.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in structural design and detailing of various structures (Steel, Concrete, Masonry).
- Create technical drawings and project specifications.
- Liaise with professionals such as architects, specialist engineers, clients and contractors.
- Perform site inspections of structural elements.
- Perform a team-lead role assisting junior engineers to develop their skills.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering.
- 3-8 years of experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD, or similar computer-aided detailing software. Revit is a plus.
- Experience with BIM design software, such as Prokon.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Package & Remuneration
- R50,000.00 to R70,000.00 CTC
