Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their established civil engineering firm in George. This is a critical role where you will lead structural design projects, ensuring the safety, integrity, and efficiency of a wide range of structures. You will be responsible for complex analyses, design development, and project oversight from conception through to completion. This position requires a hands-on approach and a deep understanding of structural engineering principles and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of various civil engineering projects, including buildings, bridges, and infrastructure.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Conduct comprehensive structural calculations using engineering software and manual methods.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
• Review shop drawings and construction submittals from contractors.
• Perform site inspections to monitor construction progress and address any structural issues.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, other engineers, and project managers.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
• Manage project timelines and budgets for structural engineering components.
• Conduct feasibility studies and develop innovative structural solutions.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders.
• Stay current with advancements in structural engineering materials, technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering. A Master's degree is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design and analysis.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, Prokon).
• Strong knowledge of various building materials, including concrete, steel, timber, and masonry.
• In-depth understanding of South African National Standards (SANS) and relevant international codes.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Proven ability to lead project teams and manage multiple concurrent projects.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with construction administration and site supervision.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
