About the role

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy firm, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their established team in Abeokuta, Ogun, NG . This role will involve leading the structural design and analysis for a diverse range of building and infrastructure projects, from conception through to construction completion. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical expertise, a thorough understanding of building codes and standards, and a proven ability to manage projects effectively. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety, integrity, and efficiency of all structural designs, working collaboratively with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities: Lead the structural design and analysis of various building projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial structures. Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations using relevant software. Perform complex structural analyses for seismic, wind, and other load conditions. Ensure designs comply with Nigerian building codes, international standards, and project-specific requirements. Collaborate closely with architects, MEP engineers, and other consultants to achieve integrated project solutions. Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring timely delivery of design deliverables. Conduct site inspections during construction to monitor progress and address any structural issues. Review shop drawings and contractor submittals for compliance with design intent. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff. Prepare technical reports and present design proposals to clients and project stakeholders. Identify and implement innovative structural engineering solutions to optimize project outcomes. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in structural engineering technology and methodologies. Liaise with regulatory bodies to obtain necessary approvals. Contribute to the development of company standards and best practices in structural engineering. Perform peer reviews of designs prepared by other team members. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering. Master's degree in Structural Engineering is highly preferred. Professional registration as a COREN-certified engineer in Nigeria. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design. Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, Revit Structure, and AutoCAD. Comprehensive knowledge of Nigerian building codes (e.g., Nil, NIS) and relevant international standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, Eurocode). Proven experience in managing structural design projects from inception to completion. Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and site supervision. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate within a team. Experience in mentoring and supervising junior engineers. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. A keen eye for detail and a commitment to ensuring structural integrity and safety. Experience with foundation design and geotechnical considerations.
