Our client, a leading player in the logistics and warehousing sector, is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Supply Chain Analyst to join their operations team in George, Western Cape, ZA. This role is crucial for optimizing the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability of their cold chain logistics operations. You will be responsible for analyzing complex supply chain data, identifying bottlenecks, and developing data-driven solutions to enhance performance. Your work will involve network design, inventory management, transportation planning, and risk assessment specifically within temperature-controlled environments. You will develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs), generate insightful reports, and present findings and recommendations to senior management.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain analysis, preferably within cold chain logistics. Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI) and supply chain modeling software is essential. You should have a solid understanding of logistics operations, warehousing best practices, and transportation management systems. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely are paramount. This role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and sales, to implement strategic improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze complex supply chain data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement in cold chain operations.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory levels, reduce lead times, and minimize costs.
- Design and model efficient supply chain networks, considering transportation modes, warehousing, and distribution.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics and warehousing operations.
- Collaborate with operations and transportation teams to resolve logistical issues and improve service levels.
- Develop and maintain accurate forecasting models for demand and capacity planning.
- Evaluate and recommend technologies and systems to enhance supply chain visibility and efficiency.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses for proposed supply chain initiatives.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management on supply chain performance and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards for cold chain handling.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, particularly those related to temperature fluctuations and product integrity.
- Support the implementation of new supply chain processes and systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in supply chain analysis, logistics, or operations management.
- Specific experience with cold chain logistics or temperature-controlled supply chains is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Experience with supply chain modeling or optimization software is a plus.
- Strong understanding of logistics operations, warehousing, and transportation management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data clearly.
