Job Description

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Engineer for the IBCS (Integrated Battle Command System) initiative. The IBCS is a game-changing, network-enabled command-and-control system that has been deployed to unify air and missile defense efforts. This role will focus on ensuring the delivery of a single integrated air picture with enhanced accuracy, broadening surveillance and protection areas for not only the U.S. but also allied nations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting technical planning, integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analyses for total systems.
  • Analyzing all phases of the total system product lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Ensuring systematic conversion of customer requirements into total systems solutions while considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, and trade studies to translate customer needs into hardware and software specifications.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in systems engineering for missile and weapon systems development programs, functional analysis, and systems trade studies. Familiarity with subsystems such as RF/sensors, guidance, and command & control systems will be advantageous.

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Engineer (ENG03):

  • 5 years of experience with Bachelor’s degree, 3 years with Master’s degree, or 1 year with PhD.
  • Active Secret Clearance required to start.
  • Proficiency in Requirements and Model-Based Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with Cameo or MagicDraw.
  • Strong capability in understanding systems interface documentation and military standards.

Sr. Principal Engineer (ENG04):

  • 8 years of experience with Bachelor’s degree, 6 years with Master’s degree, or 3 years with PhD.
  • Active Secret Clearance required to start.
  • Proficiency in Requirements and Model-Based Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with Cameo or MagicDraw.
  • Strong capability in understanding systems interface documentation and military standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical experience with Integrated Air and Missile Defense and Command & Control systems.
  • Systems Engineering experience in an Agile environment.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira.
  • IBCS experience preferred.
  • Experience with Link-16 and familiarity with weapon systems/sensors like PATRIOT and Sentinel.

Salary and Benefits

The primary salary range for this position is $108,800.00 - $163,200.00, while the secondary range is $135,800.00 - $203,600.00. Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining salary offers including the scope of responsibilities and the candidate’s experience.
