Whitman Advisory is partnering with a growing public accounting firm seeking a Tax Senior to join their team in Middletown, Delaware. This is a great opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys working closely with small business clients, preparing and reviewing tax returns, and being part of a collaborative, fast-paced firm environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong public accounting experience, a client-service mindset, and the ability to manage tax engagements from preparation through filing.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review business and individual tax returns for small business clients.
- Manage tax engagements from initial client communication through delivery and filing.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax projections.
- Proactively communicate with clients regarding tax matters, deadlines, and required information.
- Organize, update, and maintain tax databases and client records.
- Record tax entries into accounting software.
- Understand and apply tax reduction strategies for clients.
- Prepare and/or review financial statements.
- Respond to federal, state, and local notices related to income and payroll tax matters.
- Support internal process improvements and maintain strong client service standards.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of public accounting experience in a tax-focused role required.
- CPA, EA, or licensed tax preparer preferred.
- Strong knowledge of individual and business tax concepts, rules, regulations, forms, and tax-saving strategies.
- Experience responding to income and payroll tax notices from federal, state, and local agencies.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Desktop required.
- Experience with UltraTax and Accounting CS is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail, numerical skills, and organizational ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new processes quickly and execute them reliably.
- General knowledge of payroll, payroll taxes, benefits, not-for-profit accounting, fixed assets, and internal controls is a plus.
