What we are looking for
We are recruiting a Senior Tax and Audit Accountant to join our finance team and support the Financial Controller in a publicly listed, rapidly growing software company with expanding international operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all tax obligations including Transfer Pricing, Corporation Tax, VAT, Sales Taxes, timely reporting thereof, and related accounting entries.
- Liaise with external tax advisors to stay updated on tax legislation amendments and their impact.
- Support tax planning initiatives and maintain oversight of permanent establishment positions.
- Analyze VAT, sales taxes, and other tax requirements from customer contracts.
- Review and approve VAT treatment on sales invoices ensuring compliance.
- Provide support on tax matters across the business.
- Prepare group annual and local entity tax returns and liaise with external advisors.
- Account for employee and director stock compensation plans accurately.
- Ensure payroll and statutory reporting requirements are met timely.
- Lead annual and interim external audits ensuring clean and timely completion.
- Support internal audit strategy and ensure compliance with NI 52-109 requirements.
- Assess risks and design controls to manage them.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close processes including journal entry review.
- Review P&L and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review and approve accounts payable invoices ensuring compliance.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives in finance.
- Stay updated on internal audit developments.
- Prepare insurance schedules and ensure timely renewals.
- Support Treasury management activities.
- Liaise with other stakeholders as needed.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Tax (AITI) or similar qualification.
- Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience, preferably including tax.
- High proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Public company experience is an advantage.
- Experience with NetSuite is desirable but not required.
