Company Overview
We are a boutique consulting firm working directly with a well established client, a leading electric utility in San Diego. This position is a full time position based in San Diego and will be in office 4 days a week (M-TH). Our client is dedicated to ensuring the safety and reliability of its infrastructure, especially in the face of wildfire risks. We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to assiste their Risk Team with ongoing technical writing requirements which will focus on wildfire mitigation efforts.
The Technical Writer will be responsible for transforming complex data conecpts and technical information related to wildfire risk and mitigation into clear, understandable documents for both the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) and the general public. This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to communicate intricate technical concepts in a user-friendly manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and produce comprehensive documentation related to wildfire mitigation strategies and risk assessments.
- Translate complex technical data and findings into clear, concise, and accessible language for regulatory filings with the CPUC.
- Create user-friendly content for public communication, ensuring that all stakeholders understand the utility's wildfire mitigation efforts.
- Collaborate closely with a team of highly technical experts, including engineers and risk analysts, to gather and interpret data.
- Ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards and deadlines.
- Maintain a repository of documentation and ensure it is updated regularly.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably in the utility or energy sector.
- Strong ability to understand and simplify complex technical concepts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with regulatory filings and a strong understanding of CPUC requirements is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with document management systems and tools.
