Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is a recognized leader in remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance systems. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Writer/Editor to join our team to create and enhance vital technical documentation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research and compile comprehensive technical information by analyzing data, publications, engineering drawings, and consulting technical experts.
- Develop documentation in line with specifications and contractual requirements, including illustrations and graphics to enhance clarity.
- Ensure final documents communicate technical information effectively, maintaining accuracy and correctness while making necessary revisions.
- Coordinate technical reviews and obtain approval signatures, ensuring proper security classification prior to document distribution.
- Contribute to the formulation and improvement of documentation policies and procedures.
- Present documents to management and assist in managing document security classifications.
- Lead small to medium-sized teams to achieve project completion.
- Act as a primary contact for various contracts and projects.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.
- Uphold all laws, regulations, and safety protocols during business operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
- A combination of education, including an associate's degree in a related field, and six or more years of progressive experience in a technical field.
- Equivalent professional experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.
- Comprehensive understanding of military or commercial systems along with technical writing and editing principles.
- Proficiency in developing technical manuals and a strong command of tools for documentation production.
- Skills required include:
- Quick grasp of complex concepts.
- Confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Strong organizational abilities.
- Problem identification and innovative solution development.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Solid knowledge of computer applications and operations.
- Able to work independently and lead within a team environment, willing to travel and work extended hours as needed.
- Must obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
