Operating at the intersection of healthcare, technology, data, and analytics, we are helping unlock the full potential of digital health, transforming how clinical research is conducted, how care is delivered, and how patients experience healthcare. Our solutions are built to scale, driving efficiency, improving decision‑making, and ultimately delivering better outcomes for patients worldwide.
At Evinova, we are driven by a shared purpose to transform health through data and digital innovation. Our teams collaborate across disciplines to solve complex challenges, continuously learning and evolving in a fast‑paced, high‑impact environment.
We also recognize the importance of flexibility and balance. Our ways of working support both individual needs and team collaboration. To foster connection and collaboration, employees are expected to work from the office three days per week, creating opportunities for in‑person teamwork, innovation, and meaningful connection.
About the Opportunity
We are hiring a Senior UI/UX Designer to join the Futures Team and lead the next evolution of the Evinova Design System. They will play a critical role in orchestrating an AI‑first design system to serve as the foundation for rapid prototyping and high‑velocity product development across the organization.
This role sits at the intersection of design and technology, requiring a technical‑minded approach to design. You will operate in close partnership with Design Engineering to close the gap between creative intent and technical implementation, moving beyond static libraries to create canonical, code‑aligned components that power both human and AI‑driven workflows.
You will be responsible for structuring design tokens, component prop surfaces, and patterns that are intelligible to generative AI and agentic models. You will influence system‑level decisions, ensuring parity between Figma and our codebase, and establishing the structural rigor required to support next‑generation tooling and design automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross‑functional alignment between Design, Engineering, and Product teams to establish shared standards, resolve systemic conflicts, and achieve consensus on architectural decisions.
- Drive the evolution of Figma libraries to align with code‑first component architecture, emphasizing composability and parity with the implemented system.
- Enable AI‑assisted workflows by structuring the design system so it can support generative layouts, design‑to‑code translation, and rapid prototyping tools.
- Refactor components and patterns to improve reuse, composability, and automation across multiple products.
- Integrate WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility requirements directly into component foundations so compliance is inherited by default.
- Produce canonical usage examples, documentation, and release notes that support both human understanding and machine‑readable context for AI tooling.
- Perform design QA across Storybook and live environments to validate visual fidelity against Figma and create detailed, actionable issues for engineering.
- Enable adoption of design system standards across product teams through working sessions, guidance, and validation of architectural decisions in real implementation contexts.
- Drive system adoption by supporting designers in effective usage and capturing feedback to inform roadmap priorities and future improvements.
We're Looking For
- Designers who lead through practical example and influence: someone who can evangelize design system best practices across teams, build shared ownership with engineering and product, and co‑lead cross‑discipline governance to drive adoption at scale
- Systems thinkers who prioritize coherence, abstraction, and reuse, and who are comfortable designing component models and composition patterns rather than isolated screens
- Technically minded designers who are excited and willing to engage with code‑first approaches, understand how component APIs and design tokens work in implementation, and can structure Figma libraries to mirror the architecture of a real codebase
- Self‑directed individuals who can identify structural gaps in processes and standards, propose governance improvements, and drive work forward with minimal oversight
- Designers who are curious and proactive about integrating generative and agentic AI into their workflow, not necessarily technical experts, but people who see AI enablement and automation as a design system concern, not just an engineering one
Essential Skills & Experience
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams
- Expert Figma skills and familiarity with design tokens, branching, and variables
- Extensive hands‑on experience in UX, UI, interaction design, and information architecture, with demonstrated strength in systems thinking and designing end‑to‑end experiences for complex, data‑ and workflow‑driven digital products
- Deep experience building, evolving, and applying design systems in close collaboration with engineering to drive consistency, scalability, and delivery efficiency across products
- Demonstrated ability to align design artefacts with implementation models such as component APIs, slots, and composition patterns
- Demonstrated experience delivering WCAG 2.2 Level AA compliant products, embedding accessibility and inclusive design into everyday design practice
- Strong ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative inputs, frame ambiguous problems, and make informed design decisions within technical, data, and regulatory constraints
- Comfortable working independently, navigating ambiguity, and owning complex design problems in B2B or B2B2C software environments
- Based in the Mississauga or Greater Toronto Area, with willingness to collaborate in office and travel as needed
- Ability to operate at pace and navigate changes in scope and approach based on shifting market signals and customer demand
We Also Value
- Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or digital health environments
- Experience designing AI‑native products (e.g., recommendations, simulations) in close collaboration with data science and engineering teams
- Familiarity with clinical trials and the drug development lifecycle
- Diverse perspectives, including non‑linear career paths and varied life experiences that enrich your approach to design
- Proficiency in a second language (additional languages are a strong asset)
