Senior UI/UX Designer - Web & E-Commerce
Speire
About the role
About Spéire
Spéire Innovation is an Irish digital consultancy and web agency. We design and build WordPress, WooCommerce, and Shopify websites for SME and enterprise clients across Ireland and the UK. We run a structured, design-led delivery process and we’re looking for a senior designer who can own that process end-to-end.
The Role
We’re hiring a Senior UI/UX Designer to be the creative and client-facing lead on our web build projects. You’ll own the design process from brief through to developer handover, and you’ll be the primary point of contact for clients throughout the build. This is a hands-on design role with strong client management, client delivery and project coordination.
The ideal candidate is someone who’s worked in an agency environment, is used to juggling multiple projects, and is just as comfortable presenting concepts on a client call as they are pushing pixels in Figma. You know how to translate a client’s business goals into a clean, effective website and you know how to get sign-off without endless revision cycles.
You’ll typically be across 5 or more active projects at any given time, at different stages. Some you’ll design from scratch; others you’ll pick up from existing wireframes or sitemaps and take through to final UI. Every project, you’ll be the person who makes sure the client is happy and the build stays on track.
What You’ll Do
Design
• Own the UI/UX design process for WordPress and Shopify web builds from sitemap and wireframe through to high-fidelity Figma designs ready for developer handover
• Design responsive, conversion-focused layouts for brochure sites, e-commerce stores, and custom web applications
• Work within and contribute to our design systems, component libraries, and brand guidelines
• Create user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes to communicate design intent to clients and developers
• Review and QA staging sites against your designs, ensuring builds match intent before go-live
• Stay across modern web design trends, UI patterns, and platform capabilities (WordPress custom themes, Shopify etc.)
Client Delivery
• Be the primary client contact on your projects, run kick-off calls, present design concepts, gather feedback, and manage approvals
• Translate client goals and feedback into clear, actionable design decisions (not just “what do you think?” back-and-forth)
• Brief developers clearly on design implementation, answering questions and reviewing work in progress
• Manage project timelines alongside our PM tools, keeping stakeholders informed and flagging risks early
• Handle scope conversations diplomatically, protecting the team’s time while keeping the client relationship strong
• Coordinate with our SEO, content, and marketing teams where projects overlap
What We’re Looking ForMust-Haves
• 5–8 years’ experience as a UI/UX designer, ideally in a web agency or digital consultancy environment
• Strong Figma skills, you work confidently with components, auto-layout, variants, design tokens, and prototyping
• A portfolio showing responsive web design for real client projects, not just concepts or course work
• Working knowledge of WordPress and Shopify, you understand what’s feasible in these platforms and design accordingly
• Proven client-facing experience: presenting work, running feedback sessions, and managing expectations independently
• Ability to manage 5+ concurrent projects without dropping balls
• Excellent written and verbal English, you’ll be on calls with Irish and UK-based clients
• Ability to overlap with Irish business hours (GMT/IST) for client calls at least 3–4 hours daily
Nice-to-Haves
• Experience with sitemap and wireframe workflows
• Familiarity with WooCommerce, ACF/CPT-based builds, or Shopify 2.0 theme architecture
• Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and how to design for them
• Experience with design-to-code handover tools and workflows (Figma Dev Mode, Zeplin, etc.)
• Background in conversion rate optimisation, landing page design, or digital marketing
• Comfort using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, etc.) to support design and content workflows
What We Offer
• Competitive salary based on relevant experience to the role
• Fully remote with a collaborative, low-ego team culture
• Real ownership, you’ll lead client relationships and design decisions, not just take briefs
• Exposure to SaaS product design alongside agency client work
• Room to grow as we scale
