Senior UI/UX Designer:in
Melting Experience
About the role
About Us
Melting Experience is an owner-managed digital design agency from the creative heart of Hamburg – Sternschanze. Since 2007, we have been merging Brand Strategy, User Experience, Interface Design, Apps, and Campaigns into an integrated design process. Our name says it all: we don't think in silos, but in melting experiences.
With over 45 international design awards – including Red Dot Best of the Best and iF Gold – we are among the most awarded owner-managed digital agencies in Germany. Our projects range from warehouse management systems and onboarding apps for DAX corporations to IoT platforms and climate protection tools for coffee farmers worldwide.
We design for BMW, Deutsche Bahn, RWE, Vattenfall, Carl Zeiss, Starlab, and many more. And yes: some of these projects have made design history.

Your Role
As a Senior UI/UX Designer, you will be creatively responsible for individual client projects or sub-projects. You will conceptualize and design complex functional or marketing-oriented interfaces that make it easier for hundreds of thousands of users to perform their work or tasks daily – from tariff comparisons and 3D product configurators and logistics interfaces to holistic website relaunches and new app features.
You will be responsible for the clean implementation and further development of design systems in Figma, independently conduct design handovers, and act as a sparring partner for the Creative Director and the development team.
We deliberately do not have an artificial separation between UX and UI: you will think of user flows, information architecture, and visual design as one discipline – because the killer features often only emerge during the design process.
What you'll do
- Creative responsibility for projects or sub-projects – from exploration to the finished screen
- Design of innovative UI designs for web, app, and web apps at an international award level
- Development of responsive layouts, UI variants, and all interaction states
- Systematization and maintenance of component libraries: variants, states, responsive behavior, design tokens, naming, usage guidelines
- Independent preparation of specifications and design handovers to development
- Conceptual UX work: information architecture, user flows, interaction logic, clickable prototypes
- Ensuring accessibility according to WCAG 2.1 as an integral part of the design process
- Alignment with front-end engineering regarding technical feasibility
- Creation of visual explorations and design variants as a basis for customer decisions
- Sparring with Creative Director, the UX team, and in workshops with decision-makers on the client side in early conception phases
What you bring
- 4+ years of experience in UI/UX design with a portfolio that shows both creative excellence and conceptual depth
- Outstanding feel for typography, color, proportion, and interface details – you design interfaces that are immediately recognized as exceptional
- Deep Figma expertise: libraries, auto-layout, variants, design tokens, interactive prototypes, developer handover
- Proven experience with design systems and component-based work (Atomic Design or comparable)
- Independent UX competence: You can structure user flows, build information architectures, and define interaction logic
- Experience collaborating with front-end developers – you know what's possible in code and what isn't
- Ability to estimate effort and impact ad hoc
- Self-organized work – you don't need a project manager to tell you what's next
- Very good German and English skills
Nice to have
- Experience with WCAG 2.1 AA/AAA and accessible design
- Experience with enterprise clients and complex stakeholder landscapes
- Motion design, micro-interactions, prototyping beyond Figma
- Experience with AI-powered design workflows and vibe coding skills for early functional prototypes
- Basic front-end knowledge (HTML/CSS/JS) for better handover understanding
