Senior UI/UX Engineer – Front-End & Design Systems
DND Technologies LLC
About the role
Job Overview We are seeking a Senior UI/UX Engineer to support the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs (OSCNP) under a Farm to School State Formula Grant. This initiative strengthens the Farm to School infrastructure across Maryland, helping school districts procure and use local foods in school meals through an agile-based application built on AWS.
The Senior UI/UX Engineer will lead front-end design and development, producing intuitive, responsive interfaces across web and mobile platforms while collaborating closely with business analysts, engineers, and client stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Design and implement responsive web application user interfaces using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Design and develop wireframes and prototypes based on requirements; validate designs directly with users.
• Develop mobile and cross-browser compatible responsive front-end interfaces using Bootstrap and Angular.
• Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences tied to key KPIs.
• Deliver high and low-fidelity interface designs — prototypes, mockups, wireframes, and user stories — optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
• Make strategic design and UX decisions to maintain a consistent user interface across all product offerings.
• Take a user-centered design approach; drive and participate in usability testing and rapid design iteration.
• Ensure all components comply with UI/UX guidelines and standards in collaboration with the application team.
• Collaborate with Business Analysis, UI Engineering, and Client Support teams; clearly communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related scientific or technical discipline.
• 6 years of experience designing and developing web applications, mobile applications, and cross-browser compatible responsive front-end interfaces.
• 6 years of hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, Node.js, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Extensive experience with the latest JavaScript, Angular, and CSS frameworks.
• Extensive working knowledge of JavaScript, JSON, REST, and XML.
• Ability to create wireframes and prototypes using the latest UI/UX tools.
Preferred qualifications
• 3+ years of prior work experience with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) developing applications with web-based user interfaces.
Primary place of performance is Baltimore, MD 21201. Hybrid working schedule at the discretion of the team Supervisor
