About the role
Job Summary
Requires an active TS/SCI Security Clearance. The Unified Communications Senior Engineer designs and develops Unified Communications voice, video and collaboration networks. Works with Unified Communications Engineering resources to ensure proper delivery of functional systems and assists in troubleshooting voice/video system clusters and endpoints.
Impact & Responsibilities
- Analyze Unified Communications voice, video and collaboration networks including engineering, planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading systems and protocol suites.
- Design, develop, and execute Cisco collaborative endpoint technologies (i.e., Cisco VoIP endpoints, Cisco Codecs, DL and RoomKits, Collaborated Meeting Rooms, Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) version 14 or higher, and Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM and Presence (Jabber)).
- Plan system updates and schedule outages.
- Configure systems and user environments.
- Provide direction in the development of continued technologies, system engineering and tasking related to Unified Communications and other User Facing Services.
- Identify, analyze and resolve system problems.
- Maintain current working knowledge of relevant system technologies and Microsoft Office suites (e.g., Excel, Visio).
- Participate in special projects as required.
- Provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers.
- Develop procedures and documentation for managing, deploying, and implementing multiple baseline hardware/images and system updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline and a minimum of 10 years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or military/work experience.
- Cisco CCNP Collaboration certified or equivalent knowledge.
- Security certification satisfying 8750.
- 10‑15 years of directly related experience in systems engineering and administration.
- Experience in Unified Communications: call routing, endpoints, and IM&P (Jabber chat, Federation).
