Your Opportunity
As a Senior User Experience Research Specialist, you will play a vital role in enhancing the usability, accessibility, and scholarly effectiveness of our research platforms. This position focuses on understanding how students, faculty, librarians, and researchers interact with academic content and digital research workflows. You'll design and lead research studies that will inform product strategy and facilitate evidence-based improvements for higher education and library tools worldwide.
What You'll Do
- Take full ownership of research initiatives—from planning and designing to conducting qualitative and quantitative user research throughout the product lifecycle.
- Translate complex research insights into actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, and stakeholders to guide product direction and strategy.
- Champion user-centered design principles and advocate for research best practices across teams.
- Conduct usability testing, interviews, surveys, and field studies.
- Synthesize findings and create clear, structured deliverables such as research reports, personas, journey maps, and frameworks.
- Promote accessibility, inclusivity, and equitable access to information in all research efforts.

About You
- 5+ years of experience in UX research, human-computer interaction, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Ability to translate ambiguous problem spaces into clear research directions.
- Experience working within cross-functional product teams.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
- A diverse portfolio demonstrating impact across complex problem areas.
What Sets You Apart
- An advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Human-Computer Interaction, Library and Information Science, Psychology, Education, or a related area.
- Experience conducting research with academic, library, or scholarly audiences.
- Knowledge of information-seeking behavior, metadata, search relevance, or research evaluation practices.
- Experience working with institutional stakeholders such as universities, consortia, or research organizations.
Pay Range
USD $104,030.00 - USD $148,615.00 /Yr. Salary offers will consider an array of factors including skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location.
