Role Overview
Pearson Virtual Schools is looking for a Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher to lead user research that shapes product strategy and enhances customer experiences across our AI-powered learning platforms. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Product Management, UX Design, Engineering, Data Analytics, and business stakeholders to identify learning goals, reduce uncertainty, and support data-driven decisions through a mix of research methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply your deep understanding of human behavior and customer bias to conduct insightful interviews uncovering underlying needs that inform product decisions.
- Engage responsibly with educators, students, and parents for user recruitment, ensuring sensitivity to consent, privacy, and trust.
- Utilize cutting-edge AI tools to enhance research efficiency, streamline workflows, and synthesize insights from diverse data sources.
- Collaborate with Product teams to establish and uphold clear research agendas and roadmaps.
- Define primary research questions and objectives that align with business strategy, focusing on critical knowledge gaps.
- Select appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods, develop comprehensive research plans, execute high-quality studies, and maintain effective collaboration with cross-functional partners throughout the process.
- Analyze and synthesize research data, producing actionable insights that directly address research objectives.
- Influence product strategy through research-driven insights, advocating for user-centered decision-making while helping stakeholders appreciate research's value and impact.
- Present findings, recommendations, and solutions to senior leadership with clarity and confidence.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for product direction.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory, compliance, and privacy considerations during user recruitment and data collection.
- Encourage a culture of collaboration, shared ownership, and continuous improvement across teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of proven success leading user research projects with significant impact.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (HCI, Psychology, Human Factors, Social Sciences, etc.) or equivalent experience; a Master's is preferred but not required.
- Strong command of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Work samples demonstrating experience and deliverables (e.g., research plans, reports, presentations).
- Familiarity with common UX research and design tools.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in product development, including UX Design, Product Management, Engineering, and Analytics.
- Exceptional time management and detail-oriented skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and adapt to shifting priorities.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience in the EdTech or Education sectors.
- M.S. in Human Factors, HCDE, Statistics, or Cognitive Psychology.
- Familiarity with tools like Jira, Usertesting.com, Qualtrics, Google Analytics, and MixPanel.
- Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles.
- Experience working in Agile environments and Continuous Discovery.
Compensation
At Pearson, compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including skill set, experience, and location. As required by applicable laws, the salary range for this position is between $120,000 - $160,000. This role is eligible for an annual incentive program, and information on benefits will be provided during the application process.
