About the role
Role Summary
- Senior product designer responsible for the dashboard UX.
- Translates SOC and executive priorities into wallboard, analyst, and leadership dashboard designs.
- Owns the Figma prototype deliverable, the dashboard capability mapping, and the visual design system.
- Partners with the SOC SME to ground every screen in real analyst workflow.
- Partners with the Data Engineer to validate that every metric on screen has a data source behind it.
Required Skills
- Overall IT experience: Required. 15+ yrs.
- Education: Bachelor's degree. Highly desired.
- Must have very good communications skills both verbal and written. Strong communicator; able to defend design decisions with senior security leadership. Required.
- Experience in Product Design, UX, or Interaction Design. Required. 15 yrs.
- Operational, analytics, or monitoring dashboards. Required. 3+ yrs.
- Strong Figma craft: components, variants, auto layout, tokens, prototyping. Required.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating: Complex workflows, data-heavy or enterprise platforms, end-to-end product thinking, experience working in cross-functional teams (Product + Engineering), ability to move between strategy and execution seamlessly, strong communication and stakeholder management skills, experience contributing to or working with design systems. Required.
- Track record designing for high information density: SOC, NOC, trading floor, command and control, observability. Required.
- Working understanding of dashboard heuristics: pre attentive attributes, glanceability, alert hierarchy, color for severity. Required.
- Comfortable working alongside data engineers to constrain designs to feasible data and refresh rates. Required.
- Prior SOC or CTOC dashboard design at a Tier 1 US bank or critical infrastructure operator. Highly desired.
- Familiarity with Splunk, Sentinel, Chronicle, Grafana, Kibana visual conventions. Highly desired.
- Accessibility fluency: WCAG, color blind safe palettes for severity coding. Highly desired.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience required.
