Your Role

As the Senior Product Manager for SQL User Experience, you will play a key role in defining how users engage with data through SQL. This includes responsibility for SQL Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), VS Code plugins, query services, and natural language to SQL interactions. You'll ensure that querying data from inception to production workloads remains powerful, user-friendly, efficient, and seamlessly integrates with modern AI-driven functionalities.

Key Responsibilities

Product Ownership & Strategy

  • Craft a compelling vision for SQL user experience across various platforms:
    • Web-based query editors
    • Native IDE integrations
    • Command Line Interface (CLI)
    • API execution flows
    • Queries generated by AI agents
  • Enhance SQL experiences to facilitate AI-assisted query writing, debugging, optimization, and explanations.

AI-Augmented SQL

  • Create natural language to SQL experiences.
  • Facilitate agent-assisted query generation and improvements.
  • Provide explanations of queries in simple language.
  • Establish guardrails and mechanisms to build trust.
  • Implement feedback loops to enhance AI query results.

Cross-Layer Experience Consistency

  • Ensure SQL user experience is uniform across:
    • Browser-based interfaces
    • Notebook environments
    • Agent interfaces
    • APIs
    • Command lines
  • Define experience standards for various product managers.

Performance Transparency & Trust

  • Ensure visible query progress updates.
  • Enhance awareness of resource consumption.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to balance experience quality, feasibility, and deadlines.
  • Incorporate design and content considerations throughout the development process.
  • Manage compromises while upholding user experience integrity.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Reduce time to achieve the first successful query.
  • Boost SQL editor adoption among different user groups.
  • Elevate query success rates measurably.
  • Encourage use of AI-supported SQL functions.
  • Ensure consistent SQL user experiences across various interfaces.
  • Differentiate usability effectively.

Who You Will Collaborate With

This position leads the strategic roadmap and will necessitate collaboration with designers, content leaders, and engineering partners to forge outstanding user experiences.

Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years in product management, specifically for user experience-centric products.
  • Proven record in managing onboarding processes, home page experiences, or navigation frameworks.
  • Strong grasp of UX principles, information architecture, and user-centered design.
  • Ability to lead diverse teams comprising design, content, and engineering experts.
  • Experience within complex, multi-product ecosystems.
  • Excellent skills in communication and stakeholder management.

Your Strengths

Pay Rate

$92,400.00 - $138,600.00 Annually

Your starting pay will reflect geographic location, internal equity, job-related skills and experience. Sales roles may earn commission tied to quota benchmarks; other roles are eligible for annual incentive plans based on company performance and individual accomplishments.
