Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as hybrid or remote. Hybrid means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times a week or as determined by business needs. The candidate should report to the GM Mountain View Technical Center or Warren Technical Center 3x per week if located within 50 miles of these locations. Remote candidates are encouraged to apply.

The Role

Join our dynamic team where industrial design meets digital innovation. As a Senior UX/UI Designer, you will take charge of crafting complex UX/UI solutions for next-generation in-vehicle experiences across defined vehicle systems and programs. This role allows for significant creative input and collaboration with engineering, industrial design, and research, translating intricate requirements into high-quality, user-centered designs that are ready for production.

What You'll Do

  • Design and deliver engaging UX/UI solutions for vehicle systems and applications, accommodating various display configurations.
  • Own and resolve intricate interaction challenges related to controls, input methods, navigation flows, and driving modes.
  • Transform vague requirements into clear designs, prototypes, and a well-documented design rationale.
  • Collaborate with fellow designers and cross-functional teams to fine-tune interaction patterns.
  • Work closely with engineering, industrial design, and research teams to merge digital and physical experiences seamlessly.
  • Conduct and leverage user research and usability testing to affirm design decisions and enhance iterations.
  • Present thoughtful design recommendations and rationale to senior stakeholders, fostering alignment and execution.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Ergonomics, Product Design, Design Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing digital interfaces with a proven UX and UI skill set.
  • Proven success in owning and delivering complex design initiatives autonomously.
  • Strong proficiency in Figma and other standard design and prototyping tools.
  • Ability to tackle non-standard design challenges using sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of user-centered design principles, accessibility, and iterative development practices.
  • Portfolio submission is required.
  • Meeting the above qualifications is essential for consideration for this position.

  • Advanced degree in HCI, Industrial Design, Ergonomics, Product Design, or related fields.
  • Experience with complex, system-level, or multimodal digital products.
  • Familiarity with automotive, consumer electronics, or safety-critical regulated environments.
  • Skilled in balancing exploratory design with technical constraints and feasibility considerations.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling, motion design, sound design, and multimodal interaction.
  • Adept at transitioning between innovative ideation and pragmatic execution, ensuring alignment between design visions and engineering realities.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $125,200 - $192,700, but the final offer will depend on factors relevant to the position.
