About the role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Warehouse Automation Engineer to join their fully remote, innovative logistics technology team. This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and optimizing automated systems within large-scale warehousing and distribution environments. You will be responsible for evaluating, selecting, and integrating various automation technologies, including robotic systems, automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), conveyor systems, and warehouse control systems (WCS). Your expertise will be crucial in developing automation strategies that enhance efficiency, reduce operational costs, and improve throughput in complex supply chain operations. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles, coupled with extensive experience in warehouse operations and automation project management. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including operations managers, IT teams, and external vendors, to ensure the successful deployment and performance of automated solutions. Responsibilities include conducting feasibility studies, developing detailed design specifications, managing automation project timelines and budgets, and overseeing system testing and commissioning. You will also be responsible for developing strategies for predictive maintenance, troubleshooting complex automation issues, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. A deep knowledge of WMS/WCS integration and experience with simulation tools for automation design are highly desirable. This role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, along with excellent communication abilities. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, along with significant relevant experience, is required. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and optimize warehouse automation systems (robotics, AS/RS, conveyors, WCS). Evaluate and select appropriate automation technologies based on operational needs. Develop detailed automation design specifications and project plans. Manage automation projects from conception through to commissioning. Collaborate with operations, IT, and vendors to ensure seamless integration. Develop strategies for system performance monitoring and predictive maintenance. Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation system issues. Conduct feasibility studies and ROI analyses for automation investments. Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational best practices. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction through automation. Qualifications: BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in warehouse automation, logistics, or supply chain engineering. Proven experience designing and implementing automated material handling systems. Strong knowledge of robotics, AS/RS, conveyor systems, and WCS/WMS integration. Experience with automation project management and budgeting. Proficiency in simulation software for automation design and analysis. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, collaborative environment.
