Senior Web UI Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

About the job:

• Our direct client located in the Chicago area, has a contract to hire opening for a Sr. Quality Assurance Automation Engineer (Web/UI). • This role will focus heavily on Web UI automation testing. They have 3 QA teams (ETL, Web UI, and API) and this is in their UI team. The support 6 different web applications and over 2,000 test cases. 3 of those web applications already have the Selenium framework built out and they are in the process of building out the Selenium framework for the last 3. • They have regression already set up. • Performing Root Cause Analysis, debug and maintain scripts, clean up any Test script flakiness or poor design. • For the contract portion, it will be 100% remote, but when converted to permanent, there would be 2 days onsite a week required.

Title: Quality Assurance Automation Engineer (Web/UI)

Location: Rosemont/Chicago area

Job Type: Contract to hire (for the contract portion it will be 100% remote but once converted to permanent, it would require 2 days onsite a week in our clients Rosemont area office. There is no set conversion period, but it would be at least 12 months before conversion)

Position Description:

• This is a hands-on testing position which requires deep knowledge and understanding of all aspects of creating test cases and executing Front-end as well as Back-end validation. • The ideal candidate must possess strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. • Exceptional Manual and Automated testing skills are required. • As a motivated and self-driven member of the Technology organization, the Quality Assurance Web & Automation Engineer will be responsible for assuring consistent, high quality testing standards are utilized on all products and systems. • The Test Engineer will interface with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Software Developers, End Users and Scrum Masters to deliver products with high quality and on schedule. • This position is heavily focused on automation. • Strong hands-on experience using complex SQL queries for results validation and joining tables. • Verifiable experience developing and maintaining a Selenium test framework that integrates with C# is ideal. • They will eventually be moving to Playwright so any experience with it, is a plus.

Duties and responsibilities:

• The Quality Assurance Web UI Automation Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of new features as well as improvement of existing functionality across internal and external Web applications. This includes Integration testing, Customer Data Quality testing, Usability (Functional and Performance) testing, Regression testing etc. • Review business requirements, functional specifications, use cases, design, and architecture documents to create effective, value-add test cases. • Identify issues in data, application configurations and screen designs, report and oversee issue resolution. • Plan and execute Manual, Functional, and Regression test suite. • Develop, execute, and maintain Automated Regression suite. • Independently develop, modify, and execute test plans based on requirements and design documents. • Identify, report and track defects and User Experience issues through a system of record. • Collaborate with internal teams on root cause analysis. • Maintain close interaction with business and technical peers during the project life cycle. • Ensuring proper traceability from requirements to test artifacts. • Actively participate in requirements and code reviews. • Actively participate and drive improvements in Agile Scrum delivery. • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and testing approaches. • Creation and input of test data, either manually or by using tools, programs, or masked production data to execute test cases.

Position Requirements:

• At least 8 years of professional experience on a variety of projects in Test Strategy, Test Design, Test Execution analysis & reporting. • Strong hands-on experience in Planning and Manual test execution. • Strong hands-on experience in Regression Test Strategies, Regression suite maintenance and execution. • Hands-on experience with Automated Testing tools such as Selenium, TestComplete, UFT etc... • Strong hands-on experience using SQL queries for results validation and data mining. • Experience in validating APIs using SQL. • Hands-on experience with Jira, ALM, TFS/ADO or similar systems of record. • Deep understanding of Development and Test cycles, including respective best practices. • Strong hands-on experience in Agile and Waterfall methodologies. • Strong ability to troubleshoot issues, identifying root causes and support development team in development of resolutions. • Strong communication and Client/Business interfacing and interpersonal skills are a must. • Verifiable experience developing and maintaining a C# Test automation framework. • Verifiable experience developing and maintaining a Selenium test framework that integrates with C#.

Advanced experience below a strong plus: • Experience using Microsoft Playwright library and framework. • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following languages (Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, etc.) • Experience using AI for QA & testing use cases such as but not limited to - writing test cases, test data, debugging/troubleshooting, automation, etc. • Experience in Mobile Testing is a strong plus. • Proficiency in Prompt Engineering and working with LLMs. • Framework architecture, test migration from one framework to another. • Integration of MCP and agentic testing using Microsoft Playwright.
