In Berlin, we are looking for a Senior/Staff Android Engineer (d/f/m) to join our Advertising Team!

Our team's mission is to drive monetization through a highly advanced advertising infrastructure. We integrate industry-leading advertising SDKs and build shared technical foundations that enable multiple feature teams to seamlessly distribute advertising campaigns across our applications. We focus on scalability, consistency, and the long-term sustainability of our mobile platforms and SDKs, requiring deep technical expertise and strong cross-platform collaboration.

This is a hybrid role, based in Berlin, offering flexibility to work remotely and in-office.

Job requirements

Who You Are

• 5+ years of professional experience developing Android applications, ideally in large-scale or multi-team environments.
• Proven experience providing technical leadership beyond a single team (e.g. platform ownership, guild leadership, architectural responsibility).
• Strong expertise in Android application and platform architecture, including modularization, dependency management, and API design.
• High proficiency in Kotlin and Gradle, with a solid understanding of modern Android development practices.
• Experience working with shared codebases, frameworks, or platform-level components.
• Strong understanding of performance optimization, stability, security, and privacy considerations on Android.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems and automated testing strategies (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, unit and UI testing).
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders.
• Comfortable driving alignment and influencing technical decisions without formal authority.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and cross-functional collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

Job responsibilities

The Role

• Provide technical leadership and architectural ownership for cross-team Android advertising initiatives, focusing on our built-in monetization SDKs and advanced infrastructure.
• Lead the technical strategy and integration of complex third-party advertising SDKs (Google, Amazon, Meta), ensuring optimal performance, privacy compliance, and stability.
• Cross-coordinate actively with the iOS team to ensure unified architectural approaches, seamless cross-platform ad distribution, and alignment on overarching technical strategies.
• Act as a technical authority for Android platform topics, supporting and advising multiple feature teams to ensure the holistic delivery of high-quality experiences.
• Collaborate closely with platform architects to shape a robust, scalable, and maintainable mobile architecture aligned with the company’s monetization goals.
• Identify systemic technical challenges (e.g., ad load performance, stability, SDK fragmentation, tech debt) and proactively drive sustainable solutions.
• Improve developer experience and productivity by evolving tooling, CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and platform abstractions for ad integrations.
• Mentor and coach Engineers and emerging technical leaders, helping raise overall mobile engineering standards.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture overviews, ADRs, and cross-platform guidelines for ad distribution.
