A well-established short-term insurance organisation is seeking an ambitious and technically skilled Actuarial Analyst to join its Pricing and Modelling team. This role offers exposure to both traditional actuarial techniques (pricing and reserving) and modern analytical approaches, including machine learning.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the modelling environment, performing advanced data analysis, and supporting strategic business objectives within a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, clean, and prepare data from multiple sources using SQL and Python
  • Analyse and interpret data using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques (e.g. GLMs, decision trees, clustering, neural networks)
  • Build, test, deploy, and maintain predictive models under supervision
  • Communicate insights through reports, dashboards, and presentations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Perform ad hoc analysis in response to business requirements
  • Support pricing, underwriting risk management, and risk segmentation initiatives
  • Drive improvements in automation, system integration, and reporting processes
  • Develop and maintain management information reports using Power BI
  • Promote and embed risk awareness across the organisation

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or a related discipline
  • Completion of A100 and A200 actuarial exams, or close to completion

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the short-term insurance industry
  • Exposure to short-term insurance pricing (advantageous)

Skills:

  • Strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical capability
  • Proficiency in Python (automation, modelling) and SQL (data extraction and management)
  • Experience with data visualisation tools, particularly Power BI
  • Knowledge of actuarial modelling and machine learning methodologies
  • High attention to detail with a structured, analytical approach
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Innovative, adaptable, and naturally inquisitive mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking ability
  • Solid understanding of short-term insurance products, policies, and risk concepts
