About the role

Our client, a dynamic construction firm operating in Owerri, Imo, NG , is seeking a qualified and experienced Site Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all construction activities on-site, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent leadership, and effective project management skills.

Responsibilities will include: Supervising daily construction activities and coordinating the work of subcontractors and labor. Ensuring strict adherence to construction plans, specifications, and building codes. Monitoring project progress and identifying potential delays or issues, implementing corrective actions. Managing site resources, including materials, equipment, and personnel, efficiently. Implementing and enforcing all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies on the construction site. Conducting regular site inspections to ensure quality control and identify defects. Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for project management. Liaising with clients, architects, surveyors, and other stakeholders. Managing the procurement of materials and equipment required for the site. Resolving on-site technical challenges and ensuring smooth project execution. Maintaining accurate site records, including daily logs, safety records, and quality documentation. Planning and scheduling construction activities to meet project milestones. Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and permits. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Professional engineering registration is an advantage. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Site Engineer or in a similar construction management role. Proven experience in managing construction sites for residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and equipment. In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the construction industry. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings. Strong project management and organizational abilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Proficiency in relevant software, such as AutoCAD, MS Project, and standard office applications. Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to site management.
