Our client is seeking a seasoned and highly capable Site Manager to oversee all aspects of commercial construction projects. This critical role demands strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of construction processes, safety regulations, and project management methodologies. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This involves managing on-site activities, coordinating subcontractors, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, and liaising with clients, engineers, and architects. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successfully delivering complex commercial construction projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily on-site construction activities, ensuring work is performed according to project plans, specifications, and schedule.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors, trades, and labor to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
• Implement and enforce strict health and safety protocols on site, conducting regular safety inspections and toolbox talks.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage the project budget, controlling costs and ensuring efficient resource allocation.
• Ensure quality control throughout the construction process, conducting inspections and rectifying defects.
• Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and regulatory bodies to address queries and ensure project compliance.
• Review and approve construction drawings, specifications, and change orders.
• Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, progress logs, and material inventories.
• Procure and manage materials, equipment, and resources required for the project.
• Resolve on-site issues and conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
• Ensure the site is kept clean, organized, and secure.
• Conduct final inspections and oversee the handover of completed projects.
• Mentor and supervise junior site staff and foremen.

Requirements

• This is an on-site position based in the George, Western Cape, ZA area.
• We are looking for a results-driven leader with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Relevant construction management qualifications and a minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial construction are required.
• A valid driver's license and a strong understanding of building codes and regulations are essential.
