Site Reliability Engineer

About

This role supports a private cloud engineering team based in Burnaby, BC. The team is responsible for the management, operation, and continued development of a large-scale OpenStack-based private cloud platform used globally.

This is a strong fit for senior-level IT professionals with hands-on experience in Linux administration, DevOps/GitOps practices, data center virtualization, and supporting highly available production environments at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Playing a leading role in the operation, maintenance, automation, and continuous development of multiple OpenStack private cloud platforms worldwide, with a strong focus on GitOps-driven infrastructure lifecycle management.
• Linux Server Administration (Ubuntu/Red Hat/CentOS)
• Focused on continuous improvement — always looking for enhancement, automation, and optimization opportunities across the cloud stack, including CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
• Server, VM, application and network key performance metrics monitoring
• Develop, maintain, and execute tools and scripts to provide automation and self-service solutions
• Troubleshooting and resolving technical problems, both individually and as part of the broader team
• Provide technical leadership, actively sharing knowledge across teams and peers
• Provide on-call support as required

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in production platform operation
• Senior-Level Experience in Linux server administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Knowledge in server virtualization (KVM, VMware, etc.)
• Knowledge in network administration and industry standard protocols
• Knowledge in network, server and system monitoring (Zabbix, Nagios, etc.)
• Knowledge of deployment automation
• Knowledge in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms and DevOps/GitOps tools (GitLab CI/CD, AWX, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Foreman).
• Excellent ability to organize, multitask, work individually and in a team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Good to have

• Knowledge in Openstack administration
• Certification in RHCE
• Certification in CCIE
• Certification in Openstack
• Knowledge of DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Ansible, etc.)
• Knowledge in container management (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Knowledge in software defined storage and network (Ceph, OVN/openvswitch, NSX-T, etc.)
• Experience in ISO27001

Experience

• Linux server administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu): 5 years (required)
• server virtualization (KVM, VMware, etc.): 5 years (required)
• CI/CD platforms and DevOps/GitOps tools: 10 years (required)
