Tensley Consulting is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business focused on mission engineering in support of the United States Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense. Our team consists of System Engineers, Software Engineers, Test Engineers, and Signals Analysts performing work throughout the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS).
Education / Experience
- Four (4) or more years of experience in software engineering, site reliability engineering, or cloud engineering roles supporting production environments is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Additional years of relevant software engineering or cloud engineering experience may be substituted for a degree.
Salary
$100,000–$200,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position, but is not guaranteed. Salary is based on experience, technical depth, cloud platform expertise, and contractual requirements which could fall outside of the range listed.
Required Skills
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience contributing to a compiled codebase (Go, C#, C/C++, Java, Rust, or similar)
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining cloud infrastructure in Google Cloud (GCP) and/or Microsoft Azure (GCC High / Gov Cloud)
- Experience using Terraform for infrastructure-as-code, including module development and state management
- Experience building custom tooling, automation, or services to solve integration and orchestration challenges
- Experience working in a GitOps model, including code reviews, branching strategies, and merge request workflows
- Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows
- Experience building monitoring, observability, and alerting solutions for distributed systems
- Experience identifying operational inefficiencies (toil) and replacing them with automated, version-controlled solutions
- Experience working across multiple languages and toolchains (e.g., Go, Python, PowerShell, C#)
- Experience developing technical documentation, including architecture designs, SOPs, and implementation guides
Desired Skills
- Experience with Kubernetes and service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio)
- Experience with Entra ID (Azure AD) in GCC High environments (service principals, conditional access, Graph API)
- Experience designing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar)
- Experience contributing to or debugging Terraform provider code
- Experience with PowerShell (advanced/module-level) or Desired State Configuration (DSC)
- Familiarity with NIST 800-53, 800-171, 800-172, or 800-207 (Zero Trust) frameworks
- Strong networking fundamentals across Layers 3–7 and understanding of Zero Trust architecture
- Experience supporting government or Intelligence Community (IC) cloud environments
Clearance
- Active security clearance required. Secret or TS is acceptable, with TS/SCI (Polygraph preferred but not required depending on program).
