SOC Engineer/Akamai

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Fastly Engineer to support, enhance, and expand our Fastly edge platform implementation. This role begins with shadowing our existing Fastly deployment to gain a deep understanding of our current architecture. From there, you will take ownership of completing remaining integrations, driving new implementations, and managing the platform on an ongoing basis. Strong communication skills and hands on Fastly expertise are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Implementation & Integration

• Shadow and learn the existing Fastly implementation to fully understand current configurations, workflows, and business requirements.
• Lead the completion of remaining Fastly integrations and support new deployments across the organization.
• Design, implement, and test new Fastly services, configurations, and edge logic (VCL or View email address on easyhiring.pro).
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and product teams to integrate Fastly into new and existing services.
• Support and execute migration activities from Akamai WAF to Fastly, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal disruption.

Operational Management

• Own the day to day administration of the Fastly environment, including configuration updates, version control, and deployment workflows.
• Monitor performance, reliability, and security across Fastly services, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Conduct regular reviews of caching strategies, routing rules, and edge logic to ensure optimal performance.
• Maintain clear and accurate documentation for configurations, processes, and operational procedures.

Support & Governance

• Act as the primary point of contact for Fastly related queries, incidents, and change requests.
• Provide guidance and best practice recommendations to internal teams using or integrating with Fastly.
• Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for edge related issues.
• Ensure compliance with security, governance, and operational standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands on experience with Fastly, including deployment, configuration, and ongoing management.
• Solid understanding of CDN concepts, caching strategies, edge compute, and traffic routing.
• Experience with VCL or View email address on easyhiring.pro (Rust based) development.
• Demonstrated experience migrating from Akamai WAF to Fastly or similar edge security platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and version controlled configuration management.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in distributed or high traffic environments.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive initiatives to completion.
