About the role

POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Media Manager & Content Creator will lead and define APOTHEKE’s social presence through best-in-class creative, trend fluency, and video-first storytelling. This is a highly visible, high-impact role for a taste-driven creative who understands how to translate brand, product, and emotion into content that performs.

This full-time, NYC-based position is for someone who lives and breathes content—a true hybrid of creative, videographer, and editor. You are deeply fluent across platforms, instinctively understand what makes content resonate, and can execute at a high level from concept through final edit.

You will be responsible for creating scroll-stopping, culturally relevant, and visually elevated content that drives brand awareness, engagement, and growth—while maintaining APOTHEKE’s distinct point of view in the home fragrance and lifestyle space.

This role is based in Red Hook, Brooklyn, and requires regular on-site presence for shooting in our studio, retail store, and at events.

You will report to the Marketing Director and collaborate closely with Creative, E-commerce, and Retail teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY

  • Own and evolve APOTHEKE’s social strategy with a creative-first lens, balancing brand storytelling with performance
  • Develop and manage a dynamic content calendar that is both strategic and reactive to trends and cultural moments
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends, audio, formats, and platform shifts, identifying opportunities to lead—not follow
  • Translate insights and analytics into actionable creative direction
  • Concept and launch distinct content series and formats that build recognition and repeat engagement

CONTENT CREATION (CORE FOCUS)

  • Lead end-to-end creation of premium, social-first content across platforms (Reels, TikTok, Pinterest, etc.)
  • Shoot and edit both photography and video at a high level—lighting, composition, pacing, and storytelling should feel best-in-class
  • Translate fragrance into emotion-driven visual storytelling (ritual, mood, environment, memory)
  • Capture content across studio, retail, and on-location environments, including events and brand activations
  • Confidently direct or appear on camera when needed (voiceover, hands, or full presence)
  • Bring a strong, opinionated creative POV—understanding how to elevate trends without diluting the brand
  • Continuously experiment with new formats, tools, and techniques to push creativity forward
  • Support photoshoots and larger campaigns with on-set creative execution and content capture
  • Utilize AI and emerging tools to enhance efficiency and scale output without sacrificing quality

COMMUNITY + CULTURE

  • Build and nurture an engaged, loyal community across all platforms
  • Engage in a way that feels intentional, elevated, and brand-aligned—never transactional
  • Identify opportunities for real-time engagement, cultural participation, and brand voice moments
  • Amplify UGC, creators, and community voices in a way that strengthens brand affinity
  • Maintain a consistent, polished presence across all social touchpoints

INFLUENCER + CREATOR PARTNERSHIPS

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with high-quality, brand-aligned creators and tastemakers
  • Lead gifting and content partnerships with a focus on creative output and brand alignment over volume
  • Help shape influencer strategy to ensure elevated, differentiated content
  • Track performance and extract insights to refine future collaborations

EVENTS + BRAND ACTIVATIONS

  • Capture and produce real-time, high-quality content at events and activations
  • Support creative ideation and execution of brand moments that are inherently content-worthy and shareable
  • Own post-event storytelling across platforms

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3–5 years of experience in social media, content creation, or a similar role
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates exceptional taste level across photography, videography, and social content
  • Proven ability to concept, shoot, and edit content independently at a high level
  • Deep fluency across all major platforms and an intuitive understanding of what performs—and why
  • Strong understanding of internet culture, trends, and visual direction
  • Excellent eye for detail, composition, lighting, and editing
  • Strong copywriting skills with a clear sense of brand voice
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Knowledge in AI creative programs and Claude

Bonus:

  • Experience in fragrance, beauty, fashion, or lifestyle brands
  • Background in photography, videography, or creative direction
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar tools
