The Intel Sector Office of Technology (OOT) is looking for a Software Architecture Lead to spearhead software architecture strategy, standards, and execution throughout the Sector.
Position Summary:
As the Software Architecture Lead, you will define and drive next-generation, mission-ready software architectures that seamlessly integrate intelligence tradecraft, mission software, cyber capabilities, and multi-INT functionalities at remarkable speed and scale.
In this role, you will leverage your deep understanding of U.S. Intelligence Community (IC) architecture, mission platforms, and state-of-the-art software engineering practices to deliver secure, AI-enabled, and operationally deployable systems across all Sector Business Areas (BAs). You will collaborate with Sector CTOs, AI Leads, Solution Architects, and a vibrant community of developers to build platform-based, reusable, and composable software ecosystems that accelerate mission outcomes and set Leidos apart in the Intelligence Community.
This pivotal role supports the Sector's transition towards:
- Platform-centric architectures
- AI-enabled workflows and mission systems
- Accelerated AI-assisted software development and deployment
- Comprehensive integration of multi-INT, TCPED, and cyber solutions
In alignment with Sector priorities, you will enable the delivery of immediate mission software that meets customer demands for speed, resilience, and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Defining the Sector's software architecture strategy to ensure alignment with business goals, IC architectures, and constraints, while enhancing platforms that support Multi-INT data fusion, analytics, and AI-enabled systems.
- Leading the move towards AI-Native & modern Software Development practices by utilizing LLM-powered development tools for code generation, review, and testing.
- Establishing frameworks for agentic AI workflows in missions and advocating coding practices that improve developer productivity while lowering costs and reducing delivery timelines.
- Supporting Growth, Capture, and Customer Engagement as the chief software architect for critical captures and proposals by shaping distinctive architecture-led solutions, and setting technical baselines and solution roadmaps.
- Engaging directly with IC and DoD customers to influence their requirements and architectures, as well as presenting mission-ready platforms and prototypes.
- Leading the establishment of a Sector-wide software architecture community of practice to mentor solution architects and engineers in modern architecture techniques and mission-focused design.
- Collaborating with Leidos OOT, SW Accelerator, and partner Sectors to create reusable architecture patterns, code libraries, frameworks, and platform services.
- Ensuring that the Intel Sector's software solutions are innovative, driving significant improvements in efficiency and operational effectiveness, and facilitating the swift transition of IRAD and Contract R&D prototypes into operational systems.
- Demonstrating prototypes to surpass competitors and transform the market landscape.
Basic Qualifications:
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of experience in software architecture and engineering for mission-critical systems.
- 7+ years supporting U.S. Intelligence Community or DoD programs.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and DevSecOps pipelines for secure software systems.
- Familiarity with AI/ML systems, including LLMs and agentic workflows, and multi-INT or data fusion platforms.
- Proven leadership in architecture for substantial capture and proposal efforts.
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
Desired Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of NSG architecture, IC enterprise systems, and GEOINT ecosystems.
- Experience in modernizing TCPED workflows and analyst platforms.
- Familiarity with graph-based architectures, digital twins, simulation environments, cyber reasoning systems, and automated security tools.
- Successful implementation of platform-based architectures and AI-assisted software development practices.
- Experience working with NGA, NRO, NSA, DIA, and ODNI environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence senior IC stakeholders.
- Proven ability to demonstrate technical, business, and mission expertise aligned with Sector expectations.
