Space Ground System Solutions has a full-time opening for a Software Engineer working onsite at our customer site located in Welcome, MD. Our focus is to provide our customers with practical, state of the art solutions to complex communications, command, control and intelligence applications. The position is for a software developer to design, implement, test and validate software used to command and control satellites and payloads on orbit.

Responsibilities

• Develop front end/backend software in a Linux environment using React/JavaScript and Java.
• Design UI/UX design wireframes and translate into code.
• Unit and functional testing of code
• Apply agile development practices and techniques to adapt rapidly to changing requirements and schedules
• Ability to support a periodic on call rotation.

Requirements

• Zero (0) to five (5) years of software engineering/development experience, knowledge of high-level programming language(s).
• Proficiency developing and testing software in a Linux environment
• Experience with a high-level programming language such as Java, Go, JavaScript, C/C+, Python
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science/Engineering or other relevant Engineering field from an accredited university or equivalent combination of formal education and experience
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must meet eligibility requirements associated with obtaining a DoD Secret clearance
• Selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements associated with access to classified information

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

• Familiarity with web technologies and frameworks (examples: HTML, CSS, React, REST, JSON, WildFly, etc.
• Familiarity with secure coding practices
• Experience using Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• Experience with container technologies (Kubernetes/Docker/Podman)
• Experience writing scripts (examples: shell scripting, python, nodejs.)
• Experience using software configuration management tools (examples: git, BitBucket, Jira, etc.)
