Software Developer

About the role

CVtoCareer is a growing tech startup building products that sit at the intersection of careers, automation, and AI. As a software developer on our backend team, you'll own the design, implementation, and maintenance of APIs, server-side logic, databases, and deployment pipelines that power our web and mobile applications.

You'll work alongside frontend developers, system administrators, and product stakeholders — setting your own deliverable targets each cycle and being held accountable to them.

What you'll do

• Design and build scalable REST APIs, endpoints, and backend services using TypeScript and Node.js
• Work with MongoDB, MySQL, and Redis for data storage and caching
• Build and maintain automation and test flows using Selenium and related tooling
• Deploy and manage services using Docker and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines on Digital Ocean
• Propose and commit to your own sprint deliverables — then deliver them
• Actively apply AI-assisted development practices to accelerate output quality and speed

Bonus: Python experience, Redis, microservices architecture, Kubernetes, or a demonstrated habit of using AI coding assistants (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, etc.) in your daily workflow.

How we work — please read carefully

Working hours

This is a night-shift remote role. You must be available and actively working between 9 pm – 9 am Nigerian Time (WAT). Minimum commitment is 8 tracked hours per day.

Output-based accountability

We track effort via Hubstaff. Beyond hours, you'll propose your own deliverable targets each cycle (structured in ~90-min task blocks) and you'll be held to them. We measure both time committed and outcomes produced.

Infrastructure requirements

You are responsible for providing a reliable, uninterrupted power supply and stable high-speed internet connection throughout your shift. These are non-negotiable — connectivity failures that impact availability will affect your standing.

Payment

Earnings are accrued hourly and paid monthly following timesheet submission and approval.

Probationary period — important

All new hires begin with an 80-hour accrued probationary period (approximately two weeks at full-time pace). During this time your performance, reliability, and deliverable quality will be assessed. Accrued pay for the probationary period is only released upon successful confirmation at the end. If you are not confirmed, no payment will be made for probationary hours worked. Please do not apply if these terms are not acceptable to you.

This role is not for you if…

• You do just enough to tick boxes and need to be pushed to go further
• You write everything from scratch when better, faster approaches exist
• You're uncomfortable committing to your own targets and being measured against them
• You cannot guarantee a stable power and internet connection for your full shift
• The probationary payment terms described above are not acceptable to you
