Job Description

• You will be responsible for design and development in the area of databases and search engines, as well as the conception and implementation of relational data models.
• You will develop backend services using Java.
• Promote proactive collaboration with architects, developers, and the operations team.
• You will take on the following tasks and responsibilities with your know-how:
  • Implementation of the Open Search architecture (cluster, shards, replicas, node roles), cluster sizing, shard strategies, and performance tuning.
  • Design of performant mappings and index strategies, as well as optimization of indexes, queries, system configurations, and integration into the product and application landscape.
• Consulting means flexibility: Your project assignment depends on our clients and your project situation - you will work throughout Germany in our offices, on-site at the client's premises, and from home.

Qualifications

• You have completed studies in (Business) Informatics, Mathematics, or Economics.
• You can demonstrate extensive practical experience with OpenSearch (alternatively Elasticsearch), particularly in data modeling and index design, query tuning and relevance optimization, as well as operation, administration, and scaling.
• Very good knowledge of Java (alternatively another common programming language) is a matter of course for you, acquired through several years of professional experience in software development, ideally in a backend environment.
• You also have a solid understanding of logical and physical data models and have already gained experience in performance tuning of distributed systems.
• Knowledge in container or cloud environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/OpenSearch Service) is a plus.
• You have successfully applied your profound experience with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL (alternatively another relational database) in the past.
• You stand for a structured, analytical way of working and enjoy taking responsibility in a small team.
• Very good German language skills (written and spoken, min. C1) and English skills round off your profile.
