As a Software Engineer at Lam, you will be at the forefront of innovation by designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs. Your role is pivotal in developing software tools that support design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. Your expertise will determine hardware compatibility and influence design, ensuring seamless integration between software and hardware. You will make an impact across Lam’s entire product portfolio of equipment, working within our centralized software engineering team and collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the industry.

Responsibilities

• Be involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including testing, analysis, and maintenance of the software system.
• Participate in the software deployment process, ensuring qualified software products are successfully installed at customer facilities.
• Perform troubleshooting of system software‑related issues.
• Provide in‑house and onsite support of the customer install base and resolve customer issues.
• Test, troubleshoot, and clearly propagate errors to software and hardware development engineers.
• Set up and maintain tool simulators, testing environments, and lab support to reproduce field issues and verify software solutions.
• Understand customer technology and productivity needs and feed those requirements into software development.
• Prepare presentations for Lam internal stakeholders and customers.
• Travel worldwide wherever semiconductor customers are located (up to 25%).

Requirements

• Technical education in soft‑ and hardware (minimum HTL/technical high school) – electrical engineering, software engineering, or similar.
• Excellent computer, troubleshooting, and statistical process control skills.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills in English.
• Good knowledge of operating system principles and basic hardware capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional experience is an asset but not required.
• Ability to establish successful relationships in a multicultural environment with external and internal customers.
• Structured working style (attention to detail).
• High degree of initiative, flexibility, and ability to work in a team.

What We’re Offering

• Position subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for Employees in the Metal Technology Industry, occupation group E, depending on educational background.
• Higher payment negotiable based on education, expertise, and skills.
• Monthly salary paid 14 times per year.
