Software Engineer

This position is planned for various locations including Mannheim, Salzgitter, Kassel, Berlin, München.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to strengthen our railway engineering team. You will be involved in the design, development, and integration of software for signaling and train control systems in compliance with CENELEC standards. The role combines hands-on coding with collaboration across system, safety, and test teams to deliver reliable and certifiable solutions.

Your Tasks:

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded and application-level software for railway systems.
• Implement software components according to requirements and design specifications.
• Ensure compliance with EN 50128 / EN 50657 standards for safety-related railway software.
• Perform software integration, debugging, and verification in lab and on-site environments.
• Document software design, code, and verification activities for certification.
• Collaborate with system engineers, safety managers, and V&V teams to ensure traceability and quality.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, methodologies, and tools.
• Support problem-solving during commissioning and customer acceptance phases.

Your profile:

• Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong background in multinational companies and structured work environments.
• Strong coordination and leadership skills.
• Effective communication abilities.
• Results-driven mindset.
• Solid understanding of project management processes.
• Ability to coordinate and foster collaboration within cross-functional teams.
• Fluent in English
• German language level will be preferred in the decision process
