Sr QA Engineer/SDET

Required

• Experience as a test engineer, QA engineer, or SDET - you have designed test strategies and written test code, not just executed test plans
• Ability to write test automation code - this is a hands-on coding role
• Strong analytical skills - you can read a specification, a data model, or an event schema and identify the cases that will cause problems
• Experience working within agile delivery teams - particularly contributing to refinement, challenging requirements, and shaping what gets built
• Pragmatic approach to quality - you optimise for confidence, not coverage numbers
• Experience with CI/CD integration - your tests run in the pipeline, not as a separate activity
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and the testing challenges they introduce - ordering, idempotency, eventual consistency
• Comfortable working with Kafka - publishing test events, consuming and asserting on outputs, debugging message flows
• Strong SQL skills - you will write comparison queries across systems, verify financial calculations, and spot data discrepancies
• Comfortable with Docker and containerised test environments
• Experience with modern test tooling such as Testcontainers, JUnit, REST Assured, or equivalent

Desirable

• Experience in financial services, payments, or acquiring
• Experience with migration or platform replacement validation - comparing outputs between legacy and new systems
• Experience with performance or load testing
